Outcome and Outputs InformationOutcomes and Output Groups Table 6.2 - Relationship of Output Groups to Outcomes
Table 6.2 shows the Authority outcome and related output. Outcome 1To ensure that the skills of the Australian labour force are sufficient to support internationally competitive commerce and industry and to provide individuals with opportunities to optimise their potential. DescriptionVocational education and training is a key
ingredient in developing and sustaining Australia’s economic
competitiveness and ensuring access to life long learning opportunities
for all Australians. The Commonwealth, through ANTA, is committed to
facilitating this in partnership with the major stakeholders within the
vocational education and training sector, including State and Territory
governments, industry, providers and individuals. Key objectives under this outcome are equipping
Australians for the world of work; enhancing mobility in the labour
market; achieving equitable outcomes in vocational education and training;
increasing investment in training and maximising the value of public
vocational education and training expenditure. In 2001-02, the Commonwealth will invest $1,079.719 million in the vocational education and training system through ANTA. There are no budget or non-budget measures proposed for the Authority in the 2001-02 budget. Resources for Outcome 1Table 6.3 – Total

Contributions of Outputs to Outcome 1The Australian National Training
Authority’s outputs related to the vocational education and training
sector reflect the Government’s decision to pursue vocational education
and training in partnership with industry and other levels of Government.
The Annual National Priorities and national key result areas agreed by Commonwealth, State and Territory ministers, act as the general framework for ANTA’s work throughout the year. Within the framework, the Authority prepares the ANTA Annual Plan, which sets out in detail the work to be undertaken by the Authority during the period. This Plan, and the report against the Plan, are published in the Authority’s Annual Performance Report in September each year.
