ARC scheme calendar available

The Minister for Education, Science and Training, the Hon Julie Bishop MP, today released a schedule of key dates for researchers planning to apply for Australian Research Council (ARC) funding for projects commencing in 2008.
“The calendar will lead to an improved ARC application process by providing researchers with greater certainty of the timing of ARC funding rounds and outcome announcements,” Minister Bishop said.
“The scheme calendar will also be useful to researchers and administering organisations when planning for peak periods of work associated with applying for ARC funding.”
Minister Bishop said the calendar would be particularly welcomed by applicants submitting multiple applications for funding under the ARC’s annual Discovery Projects and biannual Linkage Projects schemes.
The ARC developed the calendar partially in response to a request in the Ministerial Statement of Expectations for the Australian Research Council to include a timeframe for the assessment of Discovery Projects applications to allow the announcement of outcomes to occur during the first half of October each year.
The Discovery Projects and Linkage Projects schemes are funded under the ARC’s National Competitive Grants Program, a component of the Government’s additional 10-year $8.3 billion commitment to innovation, Backing Australia’s Ability.
