During the course specialist educators provide support for students undertaking their clinical component. Students must complete three clinical studies subjects, three clinical practice subjects, one professional studies subject, and one research subject.

COURSE DURATION AND MODE OF STUDY

The Graduate Diploma in Midwifery is offered as a two-year part time course, or as an accelerated course which is able to be completed in 14 months with a Summer School.. Students are given a 12-month concurrent midwifery placement during their study.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in Nursing or an equivalent tertiary qualification. Applicants are also expected to have had at least one year’s full-time professional employment in nursing. Registered Nurses who do not have an undergraduate diploma or degree but who have recent relevant work experience are also considered eligible. Students must be concurrently employed as student midwives in a 12-month midwifery placement.

IS THIS COURSE THE RIGHT ONE TO ADVANCE MY CAREER?

The course provides you with a broad theoretical and clinical study of midwifery. It meets the graduate needs of nurse clinicians who want to practise in the area of midwifery.

WHERE DOES THIS COURSE LEAD ME?
