Formalised in November 2003, Charles Darwin is a tri-sector University with offerings from senior secondary, the certificate level and through to doctorates giving students an amazing number of choices for study pathways.

As the only university in the Northern Territory and with more than 18,000 students, Charles Darwin offers a broad range of courses in traditional areas of study. However, the University also specialises in areas unique to its location including tropical and desert region studies, international (particularly South East Asian) law and business and Indigenous research and education. Additionally, the University is a member of several Co-operative Research Centres and has established the Key Centre for Tropical Wildlife Management.

Charles Darwin University is the largest research and development performer in the Northern Territory and is responsible for 25 per cent of all research and development performed locally. For a place steeped in Aboriginal tradition and culture and which enjoys a close interaction with the peoples of Southeast Asia, there are boundless opportunities for research and exploration from the expansive deserts in the south to the tropical north and the Arafura Sea, rich in marine life, and the biodiversity of the world heritage Kakadu National Park.

Charles Darwin University campuses include Darwin, Palmerston, Alice Springs and the Northern Territory Rural College at Katherine - which offers students the opportunity to experience life on a working cattle station. These are complemented by four study centres located at Jabiru, Nhulunbuy, Katherine and Tennant Creek.

As Australia’s closest University to Asia, Charles Darwin University courses are also taught in Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, Papua New Guinea and Brunei the institution holds more than 22 agreements, letters of intent, contracts and memoranda of understanding with other Universities around the world.

Charles Darwin University welcomes researchers, teachers and students whether postgraduate, undergraduate or technical, to share in the richness of life and study opportunities that the Northern Territory offers. For further information log onto www.cdu.edu.au
