Types of Work
Typically, graduates work with other staff on important projects. The
types of projects which you could be working on include:
examining university funding and participation in higher education;
working on policy or administrative matters relating to research
activities of higher education institutions;
implementing the National Goals for Schooling in consultation with
the appropriate authorities;
helping with the implementation of programmes that redress the
significant gaps between the educational outcomes of Indigenous and
non-Indigenous Australians;
working on initiatives to improve transitions between schools,
tertiary education, training and the world of work;
developing the policy and legislative framework to support the
export of Australian education and training services;
working on DEST’s organisational development and design of corporate
programmes;
examining science policy issues (including those associated with
major science programs and human embryonic stem cell research); or
providing advice on science and innovation to Ministers, the
Departmental Executive and other stakeholders.
