Support Networks

DEST graduates have a strong sense of community. Past participants in the Graduate Development Programme are actively involved in helping new graduates discover the Department. Support for graduates includes:

sending you information about DEST and the graduate programme to help you prepare for when you start;
social activities to help you meet people;
useful information about life in Canberra;
helping with your formal orientation into DEST;
mentoring for career development;
information about different areas of the Department and the types of work available; and relocation provisions when moving from interstate (including financial assistance).

There is also a Social Network of Graduates (SnoG) for all graduates who have joined the Australian Public Service. SNoG hosts many activities and social occasions each year. Check out the SNoG site.
