Nursing Education and Graduates Part 2

Acknowledgements

This project was commissioned for the National Review of Nurse Education. It was based in the School of Nursing at Deakin University, Victoria, which provided administration support and assistance.

The advisory team for the project comprised:

  • Ms Rosemary Bryant, Royal College of Nursing, Australia

  • Ms Victoria Gilmore, Australian Nursing Federation

  • Dr Elizabeth McDonald, National Review of Nurse Education Secretariat

  • Ms Belinda Moyes, Victorian Government Department of Human Services

  • Mr David O’Brien, Department of Education, Science and Training

  • Ms Barbara Preston, Australian Council of Deans of Nursing

  • Ms Kim Sykes, Southern Health

  • Ms Kathy Wright, Nurses Board of South Australia.

The advisory team was appointed as a consultative body to work in an advisory capacity on matters such as scope of the project and methodology. Two advisory team meetings were held.

Appreciation is expressed to all participants in this project for their time and effort in obtaining and communicating data.

About the Authors

Kaye Robyn Ogle

R.N. (1983), R.M. (1985), Crit.Care Cert. (1986), B.App.Sc.(Nsg.)(1990)(Monash), M.H.A.(1993)(University of New South Wales), PhD [in progress].

Kaye is currently the course co-ordinator for postgraduate specialty diplomas at Deakin University. Kaye has previously completed research regarding many nursing workforce issues.

Elizabeth Bethune

R.N.(1963), R.M.(1966), B.Economics (1976)(Monash), Dip.Ed.(1981)(Melbourne), B.Ed.(1985)(Melbourne), Grad.Dip. of Evaluation (1991)(Melbourne)

Elizabeth is the curriculum co-ordinator at Deakin University School of Nursing and Associate Head of School and has previously completed research in undergraduate nursing education.

Associate Professor Pauline Nugent

R.N.(1972), Crit.Care Cert.(1976)(Prince Henry’s), B.App.Sc.(Adv.Nsg.)(1987) (Lincoln), M.Ed.St.(1991)(Monash) PhD [in progress]

Currently Pauline is Head of the School of Nursing, Deakin University and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences, Deakin University. She is also President of the Australian Council of Deans of Nursing and Chairperson of the Nursing Recruitment and Retention-Education Committee (Victoria).

Arlene Walker

B.Prim.Ed.(1985)(University of Witwatersrand), B.A.(Psych.)(Hons.) (1998) (Deakin), M.I.O.P.(2000)(Deakin)

Arlene is a registered psychologist with a Masters Degree in organizational psychology. She has a background in project management and is currently a Research Fellow in the School of Nursing at Deakin University.

David Wellman

B.A.(Psych.)(Hons.) (1997) (Deakin), M.A.(Psych.)(2001) (Deakin)

David has completed a research Masters Degree in educational psychology and is currently a Research Fellow in the School of Nursing at Deakin University.
