Homework Centres
Homework Centres are set up under the
Aboriginal Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ATAS) to provide the
facilities and supervision needed for Indigenous school students to
complete homework and school assignments, where these are not
available in the students’ homes.
Wherever possible, Homework Centres operate on
school premises.
During 2001 Homework Centres operated in the
following places:
- Burnie
- Penguin
- Sheffield
- Launceston: Northern suburbs, Southern suburbs
- Exeter
- Georgetown
- Bridgewater
- New Norfolk
- Glenora
- Kingston
- Margate
- Dover
- Sorell.
In 2002 it is expected that all of these Homework Centres will
operate with the addition of:
- Smithton
- Wynyard
- Ulverstone
- Devonport
- Lilydale
- Rocherlea
- Rokeby.
