Discretionary grants | Discretionary grants are payments where the Portfolio Minister or paying agency has a discretion in determining whether or not a particular applicant receives funding and may or may not impose conditions in return for the grant. The payment can be made to an organisation or individual and includes ad hoc grants that are made on a one-off basis, as well as grants renewed under continuing programmes. The definition of discretionary grants excludes the following:

The definition of discretionary grants has been altered as a result of a recent review by the Department of Finance and Administration. We are reviewing all grants against the revised definition for the 2000-2001 financial year. Any changes to the current list will be published in the 2000-2001 Annual Report.
