DETYA Certified Agreement27.19 Leave and Expenses to Seek Employment
27.19.1 An excess employee will be entitled to reasonable time with full pay and without deduction to their flextime credits to attend necessary employment interviews. 27.19.2 Where expenses to attend interviews are not met by the prospective employer, the Secretary will approve reasonable travel and incidental expenses incurred. 27.20 Relocation Expenses 27.20.1 Where it is necessary as a result of relocation or reduction in classification for an excess employee to move the employee’s household to a new locality, the Secretary will approve reasonable relocation expenses. 27.21 Movement to Other Agencies 27.21.1 The parties note that certified agreements are resulting in varying classification arrangements and differing salary rates among agencies within the APS. 27.21.2 The provisions of clause 13.4 facilitate movement of a DETYA employee to take up redeployment or merit-selection opportunities outside DETYA where the other agency has a higher or lower rate of pay. 27.21.3 The provisions of clause 13.4 may facilitate job-swaps to occur where another agency has a higher or lower rate of pay. 27.22 Notice Periods for Reduction in Classification 27.22.1 Where the Secretary proposes to reduce an excess employee’s classification, the employee will be given no less than one month’s notice. 27.23 Notice Period for Retirement at the End of Retention Period 27.23.1 Where the Secretary proposes to retire an excess employee at the end of the retention period, the employee will be given no less than one month’s notice. An employee over 45 years of age with at least 5 years continuous service will be given 5 week’s notice. This period of notice will as far as practicable be concurrent with the retention period. 27.24 Review Process 27.24.1 Where the employee disagrees with any decision on their eligibility for benefits, or the amount of such benefits, under Part G standard review of actions mechanisms will apply.
