This section has provided a brief introduction to the range of data sources available to schools working towards gender equity reform. Because all of us have lived a life of gendered messages and experiences, schools have a wealth of potential data on which to draw. However, just because it has, in a sense, been such an all-encompassing experience, we may not be able to see the gendered nature of our own lives. Many of the teachers commented on how obviously gendered were the experiences of the students, yet to others this was not so evident. In any analysis of gender equity needs, that which may not be obvious needs to be made explicit and the greater the range of data sources that schools can tap, the more likely it is that gender does become obvious to all.
