The publication Atlas of Higher Education:  A community focus was released to coincide with Regional Forum held on the 28 March 2001. This publication (number 01/A) is part of DEST's Occasional Paper series.

Statistical Divisions

Part of the Atlas of Higher Education:  A community focus was to produce statistical data on 57 regions within Australia. The Statistical Divisions are grouped by state and include information on:

• demographics;
• economic statistics;
• employment by industry;
• percentage of population with a bachelor degree or vocational qualifications; and
• DEST Higher Education Statistics split across four categories:
  • Studying in area, on campus
  • Studying off campus
  • Moved elsewhere to study
  • Move into area to study

  These categories each contain:

  • Field of study
  • Most popular university
  • Indigenous students
  • Postgraduates
  • Bachelor
