The Adult Literacy National Project funds a diverse range of projects from service provision to research and resource development. The beneficiaries of these projects include individuals in the community and adult literacy practitioners. The projects enhance adult literacy on a national level.
This project aims to:
- provide language, literacy and numeracy input into a range of existing national policy initiatives;
- ensure the development of quality products to support current literacy practice and provision within the broader Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector;
- build models of national collaboration and resource sharing;
- provide quality data and research on language, literacy and numeracy for national use;
- contribute to the professional development of VET and LL&N practitioners; and
- provide individuals and communities with resources to support lifelong learning.
The Adult Literacy National Project funds projects including:
- Reading Writing Hotline;
- Australian Council for Adult Literacy (ACAL) for the production of newsletters;
- Innovative Projects; and
- Commissioned Research
By funding a mixture of research, resources and PD in the VET and community sectors, this National Project assists Australians as workers, citizens and learners to improve their literacy and numeracy skills.
