21 February 2002, MIN 287/02
I am pleased to announce three additional members of
the Reference Group charged with overseeing the mapping of
Australia’s science and innovation activities across the public and
private sectors.
These three additional members will join the
seventeen announced on 11 February. The Reference Group members have
been drawn nationally from a wide variety of sectors in industry and
science and include some of Australia’s research and innovation
leaders.
The three additional members are:
- Dr Bruce Hobbs, Chief Scientist of Western Australia;
- Dr Patricia Crook AO, Managing Director of Dynek Pty Ltd and
President of Business SA; and
- Professor Beverley Ronalds, currently Director, School of Oil
and Gas Engineering, UWA, and will be Chief of CSIRO Petroleum
Resources in May 2003.
Their considerable skills and experience will
further enhance the Reference Group’s ability to advise on the
mapping’s scope and methodology and guide the development of the
draft and final reports.
The first meeting of the Reference Group, chaired by
Dr Robin Batterham, took place on Monday 17 February, and was
considered a success by all involved. The Group is expected to meet
formally at least two more times with a view to a report being
completed by the end of this year.
As indicated in Media Release Min 276 03, the
reserved right to expand the Group has been exercised.
