People, Communications and Network Group

The People, Communications and Network Group was formed in June 2006 to address the growing demands on the corporate areas so they can continue to provide the high level of support to business areas.

People Management Branch is responsible for:

  • ensuring that DEST has the people management systems that enable the organisation to achieve its outcomes;
  • advising and supporting the Executive in developing and implementing strategies that foster a high performing culture;
  • ensuring that DEST continues to be an attractive place to work for both current and prospective employees; and
  • collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure targeted and cost effective people management services are provided to DEST people.
The branch anticipates and responds to our Ministers’ communication and parliamentary service requirements, develops and implements departmental internal and external communication policies, and develops and delivers communication strategies and services for client business areas within the department.
The network of offices in the states and the Northern Territory help the department to deliver its programmes nationwide.
