The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) is a new ‘super’ agency formed in December 2007 to bring together the functions of the former Departments of Education, Science & Training (DEST) and Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR). The new DEEWR brings together the core elements of the Government’s productivity and participation agenda from early childhood, through schools, trade training, wider vocational education, universities, employment participation and working conditions. DEEWR works in collaboration with various stakeholders across Government, industry and the community to support and create Australia’s future through improving education outcomes and systems, maximising the effectiveness of training, increasing workforce participation and contributing to a strong employment growth and economy.

Eligibility

You must be:

an Australian citizen to be eligible for engagement as an ongoing (permanent) or a non-ongoing (temporary) employee or be in the process of obtaining citizenship, as detailed in Public Service Act 1999. In exceptional circumstances you may be engaged if you satisfy the Department that you are in the process of becoming an Australian citizen. You will need to provide the Department by with proof of your Australian Citizenship or application for Australian Citizenship
of good character; and
medically fit to perform the duties of the job

Important Information:

If you have received a redundancy benefit within the last 12 months from an APS or Commonwealth employer please indicate the date you received the benefit in your application. You cannot be engaged within 12 months of receiving the redundancy benefit.
