The Group Training in the Trades Programme provides:
- opportunities for students in Years 11 and 12 to obtain a School-based New Apprenticeship in
the trades while completing their secondary schooling; and
- pre-vocational training for people preparing to take up a New Apprenticeship in the trades.
Group Training Organisations employ New Apprentices and place them with one or more employers for the workplace part of their training.
People may be eligible to participate in the Group Training in the Trades Programme if they are:
- an Australian citizen;
- a permanent resident of Australia;
- the holder of a permanent Australian visa; or
- the holder of a New Zealand passport who has been a resident in Australia for at least 6 months prior to commencing the Programme; and
- have an interest in undertaking an New Apprenticeship in the trades.
The Group Training in the Trades Programme commenced on 1 July 2005.
