DETYA To Retain Office Services In-House

Departmental Media Release

13 February 2001

A comprehensive market testing process has found that office services functions within the Department of Education Training and Youth Affairs (DETYA) should continue to be provided on an in-house basis.

The review, which began in July 1999, was in response to the Federal Government’s decision that all agencies test the most cost effective way of providing their services, starting with corporate services.

The market testing process had shown clearly that in-house provision of these services by DETYA employees provided the best overall value for money.

DETYA’s market testing process followed procedures set out by the Office of Asset Sales and IT Outsourcing (OASITO). It covered provision of a range services such as accommodation and security, travel, records and phone management, office equipment and forms and publishing contract management.

Other DETYA services currently undergoing market testing are human resources and financial services, while testing of property management services will begin in the near future.
