  • Overview Paper on New Apprenticeships Support Services for the Northern Territory
    Following the release of the New Apprenticeships Support Services for the Northern Territory-Discussion Paper for Consultation, in July 2005, consultation forums were held in Darwin and Alice Springs. The submissions received in response to the Discussion Paper, and feedback from the forums, have informed the development of this Overview Paper.
  • Annual statistical publications relating to Australia’s science and innovation system
    The Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) has released three annual statistical publications relating to Australia’s science and innovation system: Australian Science and Technology at a Glance 2005; Australian Science and Innovation System – A Statistical Snapshot 2005; and Definitions and Methodological Notes – Statistics on Science and Innovation 2005.
  • Young Historian of the Year
    The Hon Dr Brendan Nelson MP, Minister for Education, Science and Training announced the Young Historian of the Year at the 2005 National History Challenge presentation ceremony at Parliament House, Canberra, on 30 November 2005
  • National Inquiry into the Teaching of Literacy
    On 30 November 2004 the Minister for Education, Science and Training, the Hon Dr Brendan Nelson MP, announced details about the Australian Government National Inquiry into the Teaching of Literacy. The Inquiry was a broad, independent examination of reading research, teacher preparation and practices for the teaching of literacy, particularly reading.
