What's New

December 2007

  • International Science Linkages (ISL) programme 2008
    A recent review to examine how to best direct support for international collaboration has resulted in changes to the Competitive Grants element of the International Science Linkages (ISL) programme from 2008. As part of this review, input was broadly sought from other agencies, the Academies and others in the science community.

    From 2008 there will be a more focussed approach to the allocation of funds under the Competitive Grants component. The new approach is intended to help:
    • sustain our scientific engagement with the existing world leaders in science;
    • establish and strengthen our relationships with rapidly growing countries; and
    • nurture good scientific relationships with other countries, particularly in areas of strategic interest.

    This approach is primarily concerned with underpinning scientific objectives but considerations such as geopolitical and trade objectives have also been taken into account.

    Please refer to the ISL website (above) for more information.
