The National Youth Careers and Transitions Advisory Group assists The Minister, in progressing the national careers and transitions agenda for young Australians.
The Government’s focus is on helping young Australians make a successful transition through school, and from school to further education, training and employment.
The Advisory Group will develop advice on strategic issues including matters affecting young people’s successful transitions in relation to learning and education, and issues regarding enterprise, vocational and career education.
Presided over by the Chair, Ian Spicer, the NYCTAG met for the first time in Sydney on 23 February 2005.
The Advisory Group will develop advice on strategic issues as requested by the Minister, which will include:
- Providing broad strategic advice to the Minister on matters affecting young people’s successful transitions in relation to learning and education;
- Providing advice to the Minister on identified priority issues regarding enterprise, vocational and career education; and
- Identifying and advising the Minister on opportunities to establish links between transition programmes and other Commonwealth initiatives, those of State and Territory Governments and with non-government initiatives; including developing effective local partnerships and strategic alliances between government, business and the community.
