The Crew Career Segments for SBS TV

The Australian Government will sponsor a series of career-related segments and career profiles for young people to be broadcast on the popular SBS youth culture program The Crew. The segments will be produced by senior school students across Australia and will also be made available for downloading through myfuture.edu.au, the career exploration website.

The career segment videos will be thematically based around career development issues that young people identify as important, such as:

  • What is a successful career?
  • What types of assistance are available and where do I find them?
  • How do I decide what occupation is best for me?
  • What are the possible training pathways?  VET, TAFE, University, apprenticeships etc.
  • How do career options differ for people in country, rural and city areas?

The Occupational Profiles will take the form of short interviews with cutaways of typical images of that occupation’s activities.

The Crew is broadcast each Monday afternoon on SBS Television.   To date over 7,000 students have been involved, producing segments on a wide range of issues including youth suicide, binge drinking and Anzac Day, as well as sports, music, entertainment and other topics of interest to young people.
