The evaluation of the Partnership Outreach Education Model (POEM) pilot: supporting young people through their life, learning and work transitions: volume 2

This report is the second volume of the evaluation of the Partnership Outreach Education Model (POEM) pilot project. The evaluation sought to ascertain the ways in which the POEM projects were able to engage disconnected young people in learning as a step towards re-engagement with mainstream education. Volume 1, indexed separately, draws together the common threads of the experience of the pilots, reaching conclusions about the successful elements of the project. This volume contains the actual case studies, which document the unique experiences of each of the pilots, outlining their methodologies and successful elements, along with recommendations for changes and improvements. In all, 21 cases are presented. The pilots were implemented by private and government youth assistance organisations across Australia, with some focusing on employment and educational skills, others on social and life skills. A number of groups worked specifically with Indigenous youth. Each case study provides participation statistics, briefly outlines the style of intervention and key themes, describes the service delivery model used, and explains the impact of the program and any particular highlights. Sustainability of each program is also discussed.
