New Commonwealth supported higher education places

This year the Australian Government has allocated a single cohort of 90 new Commonwealth supported places in the national priority area of nursing, commencing in July 2008.

Applications have been received and are being assessed for a further allocation of 1,170 ongoing Commonwealth supported places in nursing and 500 in early childhood education to commence in 2009.  It is expected that the outcome of the applications process will be announced in late August 2008.

In 2009, eligible higher education providers will be invited to submit applications for an additional 500 ongoing Commonwealth supported places in early childhood education to commence in 2010.  A further allocation of 500 early childhood education places will be made in 2010 to commence in 2011.
