There have been no Indigenous students enrolled in either year of the UniSA-PAL pilot. In the Diploma in University Studies, there have been on average 2.6 per cent Indigenous students in the commencing cohorts, with the highest proportion in 2002 at 3.8 per cent, compared with 1.3 per cent for the wider commencing student body in the University. In contrast, in 1999 38 per cent of the students in enabling programs nationally were Indigenous, not a surprising figure given that a large number of both bridging and supplementary programs specifically target Indigenous students. For example, in 1998 there were 37 enabling programs in 22 universities specifically for Indigenous students.
