Rural and Isolated Students
Given the metropolitan location of the adult re-entry high schools involved with the UniSA-PAL pilot, it is not surprising that there have been no rural or isolated students in any of the cohorts in either year. The Diploma in University Studies over the period 1996-2002 has had 6.9 per cent on average of its commencing students from rural and 1 per cent from isolated areas, lower than those for the University as a whole in 2002 at 14.3 per cent and 1.2 per cent respectively. Again in contrast to UniSA-PAL and the Diploma in University Studies, enabling programs nationally averaged 27 per cent rural and 10 per cent isolated students in 1999, almost certainly reflecting the high Indigenous intakes noted above.
