Students with a Disability
In 2002 13 per cent of the UniSA-PAL students at Para West had a disability. In the same year nearly 8 per cent of the commencing students in the University’s Diploma in University Studies had a disability compared with 2.4 per cent for commencing students across the University as a whole. In 2003, across the whole PAL cohort in the four adult re-entry schools, on average 13 per cent of the students had a disability, with Para West and Marden having the largest number at about 20 per cent each. In the University’s Diploma, 10 per cent of the 2003 commencing students had a disability, and on average 7.5 per cent of the Diploma’s commencing students have had a disability over the years 1996-2002. This compares with 5 per cent in the enabling program (bridging and supplementary) across Australia in 1999.
