Australian Academic Salaries Time Series Project 1977 - 2002

This report was commissioned as an adjunct to the salary relativities report. The report found that nominal academic salaries have continued to decline relative to AWE over the 25 year period 1977 to 2002, with this relative decline more pronounced at the senior academic levels. Academic salaries also declined in real terms against the CPI, especially at the senior levels. Both trends were strongest up to about 1990 and the rate of decline has slowed down since then.
