Accounting in higher education: report of the review of the accounting discipline in higher education: volumes 1-3 [EIP 90/159]

The report considers the suitability of the education provided in meeting the requirements of the community for qualified accountants and the standards expected by the accounting profession.  The review panel interviewed representatives of 48 Australian institutions and also sought information from Chancellors and other senior staff of the institutions.  The panel sought details of accounting education in other countries by writing  to a number of overseas professional accounting and education bodies.  The report also makes recommendations on the future development of accounting education in Australia, including proposed changes which should be made to bring about improvements.  This research was funded under the Evaluations and Investigations Programme (EIP).
