Arts, science and work [EIP 93/222]

This study investigates whether a competency based approach to generalist education is desirable and feasible.  It also looks at other ways of improving the relationship between generalist higher education and work.

This research was funded under the Evaluations and Investigations Programme (EIP).

Abstract The project defines the generic competencies in higher education, and their measurement, with reference to practices in education and in employment. An investigation was also completed on the applicability of the Key Competency Standards developed by the Mayer Committee, to higher education (with emphasis on curriculum and assessment) and in the employment of graduates.
