Australian university activity in Vietnam and mechanisms for co-operation [EIP 96/6]

This report looks at the activity of Australian universities and the mechanisms for linkages between activities of various universities in Vietnam.  The method on which this study is based is intensive consultation with Australian universities and other bodies who have expressed a keen interest in activities in Vietnam. The study achieved its aims by canvassing the views of the participants through a workshop.

Abstract

The three main aims of this study are, to provide an overview of Australian university activity in Vietnam, to identify opportunities and present alternative frameworks for co-operative activities in Vietnam between Australian universities and between these universities and the Australian government, and to canvas various mechanisms for winning the World Bank tender for assisting the restructuring of the higher education sector in Vietnam.

The report includes a number of specific recommendations as to how to foster greater co-operation between Australian universities conducting activities in Vietnam.

This research was funded under the Evaluations and Investigations Programme (EIP).
