Higher Education Report 2004-05
The Higher Education Report 2004-05 is the first of a series of annual reports which replace the Higher Education Triennium Report series produced by the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) since 1988.
Abstract
The Higher Education Report 2004-05 provides an overview of the higher education sector in 2004, including the higher education reform package, new Australian Government policies and recent sector developments. 2005 represents the first year in which the majority of the Government’s higher education reforms were introduced and these are also outlined in the report. Australian Government expenditure on higher education programmes administered through the Education, Science and Training portfolio under the Higher Education Support Act (HESA) for 2004 is set out in the various tables and figures throughout the report, as is the expected expenditure for 2005 and 2006. The report includes the new allocations for 2007 from the Capital Development Pool as well as actual HECS liabilities, payments and accumulated debts to 2003 and forecast estimates to 2005.
