This project was commissioned to develop a classification system and database incorporating all programmes leading to teacher qualifications and to provide information on the numbers of initial teacher education graduates (1999 to 2001) by specialisation to inform policy, including decisions about future intakes so that damaging shortfalls or surpluses can be avoided.
