Access (rate)
The access indicators shows the number of commencing Indigenous higher education students as a percentage of all commencing domestic higher education students.
Participation (rate)
The participation indicator shows the total number of Indigenous higher education students as a percentage of all domestic higher education students.
Retention (ratio)
Retention is measured by the Apparent Retention Rate (ARR). This is the number of students who re-enrol at an institution in a given year, as a proportion of the students who were enrolled in the previous year, less those who completed their course. It does not count as retained those who defer their study or transfer successfully to another institution.
The Retention indicator shows the ratio of Indigenous students' ARR to the ARR of all other domestic students.
Success (ratio)
Success is defined as student progress rate (SPR), which is the proportion of units passed within a year compared with the total units enrolled.
The Success indicator shows the ratio of the SPR for Indigenous higher education students to the SPR for all other domestic students.
