University Indigenous Education Partnerships Award 2008

‘Promoting Indigenous Student Outcomes in Higher Education’

Universities nationally are invited to apply for the Australian Government’s University Indigenous Education Partnerships Award.

This $10,000 Award will recognise a project that has achieved strong cross-sector relationships with schools, TAFE colleges, other registered training organisations and local communities, and promotes successful pathways for Indigenous people to access and succeed in higher education.

The Award forms part of the Government’s $1.73 million package to support the Indigenous Higher Education Advisory Council’s (IHEAC) report: Improving Indigenous Outcomes and Enhancing Indigenous Culture and Knowledge in Australian Higher Education.

Projects will be assessed against the following criteria:

  1. how they are promoting successful educational outcomes for Indigenous Australians;
  2. how they have developed cross-sectoral pathways for Indigenous people to, and through, higher education;
  3. how they effectively sustain successful institutional partnerships to assist Indigenous people in transition to higher education; and
  4. how they demonstrate they are a best practice model, and the extent to which they are creating systemic change in support of Indigenous students working across all education sector levels.
