SRA provides supplementary per capita funding to education systems and independent schools.
SRA aims to accelerate educational outcomes for Indigenous Australians beyond those which could reasonably be expected from mainstream and own-source funding alone, by focussing provider effort on the 8 MCEETYA priority areas for Indigenous education.
SRA is available to all education systems and independent schools delivering education services to Indigenous students, which meet the specific eligibility conditions. Funding is provided to education systems rather than individual schools, except for independent schools. Education systems then determine how they distribute this funding between the schools within their system, which may differ from the way that the Australian Government determines these per capita entitlements.
The following table show the notional SRA entitlements to be paid to systems, or independent schools, for each institution shown for the 2007 funding year. The notional entitlements are preliminary and based on enrolments in the previous funding year. 2005 - 2008 SRA amounts are determined according to a per capita funding rate. Final entitlements are calculated and any adjustments made following the relevant data collection in the current funding year.
*** Funding levels are not provided against individual schools where there are three or fewer fulltime equivalent Indigenous enrolments.
