Updates

Updates to the ABSTUDY Policy Manual will be advised in the form of a ‘Policy Circular’ by DEST to Centrelink, who will then advise its network. These Policy Circular’s will reflect either:

  • changes to ABSTUDY policy; or
  • clarifications of existing policy.

      From 1 July 2005, the New Apprenticeships budget initiative extended income support to under Youth allowance, Austudy and ABSTUDY to full-time New Apprentices. A number of changes have been made to the ABSTUDY Policy Manual to reflect the availability of ABSTUDY to New Apprentices from this date. 1 July 2005

     

    From 1 July 2006, the New Apprentices budget initiative introduced on 1 July 2005, will be known as 'Australian Apprentices'.
