Research Income and Publications spreadsheets for the submission of 2008 returns (for grants received in 2007) are now available. Returns are due by 30 June 2008 as per the Higher Education Research Data Collection (HERDC) Specifications

Following consultation with the Higher Education Sector, the department no longer maintains the Register of Refereed Journals.
DEST will no longer accept nominations for listing on the Register and will not undertake to rule on whether a particular journal article meets the HERDC requirements for inclusion in publication counts.
HEPs have always had the discretion to determine if a publication produced in a journal meets the requirements for inclusion in the HERDC regardless of whether or not the journal was included on the Register of Refereed Journals. As stated in the HERDC specifications, the Register is not an exhaustive list of all journals which satisfy the peer-review requirements.
The Register will remain available for HEPs to consult when determining whether a journal satisfies the HERDC peer-review requirements.

HEPs have always had the discretion to determine if a publisher meets the commercial publisher requirements regardless of whether or not the publisher was included on the Register of Commercial Publishers. As stated in the HERDC specifications, the Register is not an exhaustive list of all commercial publishing operations which satisfy the HERDC requirements.
The Register will remain available to assist HEPs in determining whether a publisher satisfies the HERDC Commercial Publisher Requirements.
