Commercialisation of research activities in the humanities, arts and social sciences in Australia
Commercialisation of research activities in the humanities, arts and social sciences in Australia” [Or “This Report”] describes the commercial activities and examines the impediments and incentives facing humanities, arts and social sciences (HASS) researchers and educators at the tertiary level in Australia
Abstract
This study is a snapshot of who in the humanities, arts and social sciences is commercialising their research and how they approach this task, based on the findings of focus groups and questionnaires. Case studies are used to illustrate how HASS commercial work helps to solve important social and community problems. The Report concludes with a list of recommendations to the tertiary sector, to Government and to researchers in the HASS sector.
This is the first of a series of research projects undertaken by the CHASS to gain a greater understanding of the HASS sector, generate ideas to inform the policy debate, and improve the capacity of researchers in the humanities, arts, and social sciences to contribute to Australian innovation.
