Research infrastructure: background paper for Mapping Australian Science and Innovation

This paper was prepared in order to set out a framework for thinking about research infrastructure issues. It summarise various data sources as a first step towards understanding infrastructure aspects of the mapping exercise, focusing on the role infrastructure plays in Australia's science and innovation system.
