The small grants scheme reviewed [Research Evaluation Programme (REP)]
This review of the ARC Small Grants Scheme (SGS) assessed the schemes' value to universities and how universities implement the scheme. The review recommends that the sole objective of the scheme is the support of high quality research of modest cost. The review also recommends amending the formula for calculating allocation of SGS funds to universities to take account of numbers of research-qualified staff as well as publications and success in winning ARC grants of all kinds.
