The Asia Education Foundation (AEF) receives core funding from the Australian Government to promote and support the engagement of young Australians with Asia.
Since 1992, the AEF has worked in partnership with the Australian Government, all State and Territory education sectors, schools, universities, and corporate and philanthropic sectors to:
- Promote and support the studies of Asia and Australia across all curriculum areas in Australian schools
- Develop Asia related print and electronic materials for Australian school children. Resources are designed to provoke thought and develop inter-cultural literacy.
- Promote and support the studies of Asia and Australia in teacher education
- Educate the broader community about the importance of school students undertaking studies of Asia and Australia
The AEF produces quality Asia-related materials for Australian school students and teachers; and works in partnerships with State and Territory education authorities, educational, philanthropic and corporate organisations. Studies of Asia and Australia Advisers are available in each State and Territory to provide professional learning and curriculum advice and support to teachers and schools.
