Kennedy Consultants Pty Ltd is currently undertaking a project to expand nursing and related industry pathways for young people entitled The Nursing Targeted Industry Project. This project includes the development of best practice models and case studies in NSW to encourage young people to pursue nursing and related industry pathways through School-based New Apprenticeships and VET in Schools programmes. This project concludes in March 2004.
A related project to be conducted in Queensland during 2004 will follow to expand nursing and related industry pathways for young Indigenous people. This project, entitled The Nursing Initiative, will use the learnings of the NSW models to expand nursing and related industry pathways for young Indigenous people in Queensland, with a flow on effect of improving the health outcomes of Indigenous communities.
