Supply Chain Awareness Project

The Supply Chain Industry can be defined as “a network of organisations that are involved through upstream and downstream linkages, in the different processes and activities that and value in the form of products and services in the hand of a customer.’

The Supply Chain Awareness Project is promoting and integrated approach to career pathways and awareness, industry participation and leadership in the development of complete supply chain management related to qualifications options for all young Australians. As a response to national industry skills shortages in Supply Chain Management, this project aims to develop new models to develop awareness of and access to the diverse career pathway opportunities in this industry. The Supply Chain Industry includes aspects of the transport and logistics, warehousing, IT, business, retail, manufacturing and communication services industries.

Three pilot programmes are being implemented through Local Community Partnerships in New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia, to develop regionally specific models of developing and delivering career pathways, career planning information and materials, and specific supply chain programmes for VET teachers and students. Pilot delivery will involve engagement with local Supply Chain Industries. The pilots will also increase awareness and participation of employers in engaging with young people through training and Structured Work placements.
