Report of the National Music Workshop
The National Music Workshop, held on 27-28 August 2006 in Melbourne, was attended by 170 participants from every State and Territory. A majority were practising teachers of music, school principals and representatives of government and non-government education authorities.
Parents Attitudes to SchoolingThe Parents’ Attitudes to Schooling survey report discusses the results of a national telephone survey on parents’ attitudes to schooling conducted by DEST during January and February 2007. The survey was conducted to ascertain parents’ views on a range of issues including schooling choices, content that should be compulsory, school reports, bullying and manners, improvements that could be made to schools, traditional apprenticeships, core skills, and post-school priorities.
Research on Performance Pay for TeachersThe report, commissioned by DEST and undertaken by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) provides an overview of the current pay arrangements for teachers in Australian schools, particularly in relation to performance-based pay; attitudes to performance-based pay for teachers; and the results of the introduction of performance-based pay arrangements for teachers both in Australia (if applicable) and internationally.
Performance-Based Rewards for TeachersThis report was prepared to guide DEST’s consideration of a broad range of issues relating to performance pay for teachers. It provides a synthesis of selected research on performance pay for teachers and a summary of different types of performance-based pay schemes that have been trialled or implemented.
