| Description |
Boys Getting it right: Report on the inquiry into the education of boys (2002). While acknowledging that girls’ education is an area of concern, this federal report, to paraphrase the report’s terms of reference, deals with the social, cultural and educational factors affecting the education of boys and strategies schools have adopted to help address such factors. During the report’s preparation some 231 written submissions were received and some 235 witnesses were heard. The report puts forward 24 recommendations designed to strengthen both boys’ and girls’ education with a focus on such areas as: early years of literacy and numeracy, learning styles, middle school programs to promote resilience and connectedness and teacher training.
