The publication, Taking Stock – Report of the Survey of Non-Government Schools Infrastructure in Australia 2000/2001 was prepared by the Capital Grants Section (Schools Group) of the Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Training. It presents key findings from the National Survey of Non-Government Schools Infrastructure in 2000 and 2001. The survey and this report are intended to provide an improved database on the infrastructure of non-government schools in Australia and to inform future directions of the Australian Government’s Capital Grants Programme.
Undertaken with the support and advice of the non-government schools sector, the survey collected a broad range of data that could be used to develop indicators of the sufficiency, condition and suitability of the infrastructure of non-government schools in Australia. The findings of the survey report will better inform the government and non-government schools and their authorities about the general state of the stock of non-government school capital facilities throughout Australia. The report will be particularly useful to the Australian Government when it considers future policy in relation to non-government school capital and to school authorities in considering their building and refurbishment priorities.
