Public and private provision of post-secondary education and training: 1993 and 1997 compared [occasional paper series 2/2000]

This study examines: how the market for post-secondary education and training was shared between public and private providers in 1993 and 1997, respectively; and how the public and private shares of this market changed between 1993 and 1997.

Abstract

Compared with data on publicly provided or publicly funded education and training, data on privately provided and/or privately funded education and training are rather limited.  Institutional collections focus on public provision, while survey data relating to private provision tend to be sparse.  Using  household survey data from the ABS survey, this study seeks to provide some insights into the private provision relative to public provision in 1993 and 1997, respectively.
