Effective Teaching and Learning Practices for Students with Learning Difficulties in Victoria

Research Report and Professional Development for Teachers

Abstract The focus of this project is the identification and evaluation of effective teaching and learning practices in the primary and middle years of schooling that led to measurably improved outcomes in literacy and numeracy for students with learning difficulties in Victoria. The project has provided a professional development programme for teachers so that they have greater confidence in meeting the special learning needs of students with learning difficulties (SWLDs).  Both the research and professional development components of this project provide strategies for including SWLDs in mainstream classes, and for the measurement and assessment of achievement and reporting outcomes for SWLDs
