Teacher secondments and placements to university education facitlities

The objective of the project 'Research on Teacher Secondments and Placements to University Education Faculties' was to document and analyse the extent and success of school teacher placements and secondments to university Education Faculties in Australia.

Abstract The project was premised on the assumption that the quality of teacher education is enhanced by the effective inclusion of current school teachers in its planning and delivery. High quality input from skilled and well-regarded practicing teachers contributes greatly to the quality of such programmes in the field. The research produced a comprehensive scan of the field of teacher education and developed rich descriptions of effective partnerships between universities and school teachers. Overwhelmingly, the roles that teachers play in teacher education programmes were seen as positive.
